CONTENT AND AI

AI content: quality control from brief to publish

How to move faster without losing E-E-A-T.

· 9 min read·

AI tools have sped up content production. A draft article, social post or product description can be ready in minutes. But speed is not value in itself: a wrong fact, generic empty copy or an off-brand tone can damage trust instantly.

Google does not automatically penalize AI-generated content. Its key question is not how content was made but whether it helps people. At the same time, mass-producing low-value pages to manipulate rankings violates spam policies.

This article sets out a complete quality-control workflow for AI-assisted content: the brief, outline and draft, expert review, E-E-A-T signals, publishing and measurement, with who is responsible for what at each stage.

Short answer: AI speeds up drafting, but people ensure quality. Without a strong brief, fact-checking, expert editing, author and source transparency and post-publication measurement, AI content is a risk.

01

The brief

Quality content starts with a good assignment. "Write an article about SEO" gives generic text nobody remembers. A brief defines who the text is for, why, and which facts it rests on.

Mandatory sections

SectionExample
Target keyword and intent"CASCO insurance" — commercial
Secondary keywordsCASCO price, how CASCO is calculated
AudienceA first-time car buyer in Baku
Competitor URLs3–5 pages from the first results page
Structure (H2/H3)What it is, what drives price, how to buy, FAQ
Data and sourcesThe company's own rules, official legal sources
CTAOnline quote or consultation

What is the unique value?

The key brief question: how will this article differ from competitors? The answer can be the company's experience, real examples, internal data, local context or clearer structure. If there is no difference, there is no need to write it.

Sources first

AI models can state wrong facts confidently. Sources for statistics, prices, legal clauses and technical parameters should be in the brief upfront. A number without a source must not enter the text.

Tone and style

Attach the brand style guide: formal or informal address, terminology, banned phrases. For Azerbaijani content, note literary norms, consistent spelling of terms and avoiding calques from Russian and Turkish.

02

Outline and draft

With the brief ready, AI helps most at two stages: proposing structure and writing the first draft. People decide at both; AI offers options.

Structure first

Ask AI for an H2/H3 outline before full text. Compare it with competitor pages and user questions and fix missing or redundant sections. Fixes here are far cheaper than later edits.

Section-by-section drafting

Writing a long article from one prompt often produces repetitive, generic text. Drafting each section separately with the relevant brief part, sources and examples gives better results.

What to include in the prompt

  • Role: "write as an insurance specialist working in the Azerbaijani market".
  • The audience and its level of knowledge.
  • The section's purpose and the question it must answer.
  • The facts and sources to use — only these.
  • Restrictions: no invented numbers, no guarantees, no competitor names.
  • Format: paragraph length, list or table needs.

The draft's role

An AI draft is raw material, not final copy. An editor and a subject expert must rework it. Drafts are full of "generic truths" — sentences everyone knows that add nothing; the first editing job is to make them specific or delete them.

03

Expert review

Expert review is the stage that defines AI content quality. Someone who knows the topic from real experience reads the text, checks facts and adds their experience.

Fact-checking

  • Does every number match its source?
  • Are prices, terms and rules current?
  • Are steps and interface names in technical instructions correct?
  • Are legal and medical statements careful and approved by a specialist?

Adding experience

AI can repeat general knowledge but does not know your work with clients. The expert adds real examples, typical mistakes and "this is how it works in practice" notes — the strongest signal for the first "E" in E-E-A-T, Experience.

Language editing

Common problems in Azerbaijani AI text: sentences that read like literal translation, calques from Russian or Turkish, inconsistent terms and overly long sentences. The editor makes sentences natural and unifies terminology.

Editing checklist

  1. Is the main question answered in the first paragraph?
  2. Does each section answer its brief question?
  3. Are there unsourced numbers or claims?
  4. Are the brand's tone and terminology kept?
  5. Are repetitive and empty sentences removed?
  6. Are internal and external links correct and working?

Originality

AI models sometimes produce phrasing very close to existing texts. Check originality before publishing and avoid copying competitors' structure. The goal is a more useful source, not a repeat of what exists.

04

E-E-A-T signals

E-E-A-T — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness — comes from the guidelines written for Google's quality raters. It is not presented as a direct ranking factor, but it describes well how Google's systems try to recognize helpful, trustworthy content. See the full Search Quality Rater Guidelines.

Google's position on AI content

In its official guidance on AI-generated content, Google says the key criterion is quality and helpfulness, not how content is produced. Using automation to generate content to manipulate rankings violates its spam policies.

Signals visible on the page

SignalHow to show it
ExperienceReal examples, own photos, case studies
ExpertiseAuthor name, role, background, profile page
AuthoritativenessMentions and citations on other reputable sites
TrustSources, last-updated date, contact details, transparent terms

Author pages

Every article should belong to a real author whose page shows experience, certifications and other articles. Anonymous or invented authors reduce trust.

Transparency

Disclosing AI use is a brand choice. Some companies state in their editorial policy that AI is used for drafting and every text is expert-reviewed, which can increase reader trust.

A real example

In our Insure.az case study AI-assisted visual content was combined with videos by insurance experts. AI sped up production; experts were responsible for accuracy and trust.

05

Publishing and measurement

Publishing is not the end of the work but the start of measurement. Each article has a goal, and you should check how well it meets it.

Pre-publication technical check

  • A unique, compelling title (about 55–60 characters) and meta description (about 150–160 characters).
  • One H1 and a logical H2/H3 structure.
  • Meaningful alt text on images.
  • Article and BreadcrumbList schema, plus FAQPage if a visible FAQ exists.
  • 3–5 internal links to related services, articles and case studies.
  • The page is indexable and in the sitemap.

We explain how structure affects appearing in AI answers in our AEO / GEO guide.

Metrics to track

StageMetricSource
VisibilityImpressions, average position, queriesSearch Console
InterestCTR, organic sessionsSearch Console, GA4
QualityEngagement rate, scroll depthGA4
OutcomeKey events: leads, sign-ups, purchasesGA4, CRM

Update cycle

Content ages fast, especially on prices, regulation and technology. Each quarter review the top-traffic articles, update facts and show the update date on the page.

The risk of mass production

Creating hundreds of pages with AI is technically easy, but pages without individual value can hurt the site's overall quality assessment. A few genuinely useful articles beat many empty pages.

06

Roles and workflow

Responsibility in an AI content process must be clear. In a small team one person may hold several roles, but no stage should be skipped.

07

AI content in Azerbaijani: practical rules

AI models are trained on far more English data, so quality gaps are more visible in Azerbaijani. A few practical rules help.

A terminology glossary

Keep one team glossary and add it to every prompt. Example marketing terms:

EnglishAzerbaijaniNote
search engineaxtarış motoru"axtarış sistemi" is also used; pick one
keywordaçar söz"keyword" only in brackets
backlinkkeçid"xarici keçid" when needed
conversiondönüşümcalled "key event" in GA4
landing pagelanding page / açılış səhifəsipick one for the team

Write directly in Azerbaijani

Generating English text and translating it often produces calques. Where possible, give prompts and examples in Azerbaijani and ask for Azerbaijani output; the editor then adapts it to literary norms.

Local context

Models often do not know — or have outdated knowledge of — local regulation, payment methods, delivery practice and user habits. Provide these as facts in the brief and have an expert check them.

Sentence length

AI-written Azerbaijani sentences tend to be long and layered. Keep the average around 15–25 words; one sentence, one idea improves readability and the chance of being used in AI answers.

08

Quality criteria for the publishing decision

Every article should pass a simple assessment before publishing. These criteria turn a subjective "I like it" into checkable questions.

CriterionQuestionPass condition
UsefulnessCan the reader act after reading? At least one concrete step or decision
AccuracyAre all facts confirmed by sources? No unsourced numbers
ExperienceIs there a real example or expert note?At least one
StructureIs the main question answered first?Yes
LanguageLiterary language, consistent termsEditor approval
TechnicalTitle, description, H1, schema, linksSEO approval

If a criterion fails, the article goes back to the relevant stage. This prevents gradual quality decline in teams producing many articles.

When not to use AI

  • Opinion and case study texts based on personal experience — the value is the experience itself.
  • Legal documents, contracts and privacy policies — specialists should write them.
  • Crisis communication and sensitive topics.
  • "Filling in" unsourced statistical claims.

A minimum process for small teams

Small businesses may lack an editor or analyst. Minimum process: a brief template, an AI draft, a fact check by the owner or a specialist, a pre-publication technical checklist and a monthly look at Search Console. Even this is far safer than publishing AI text as is.

The full technical checklist is in our technical SEO article.

09

Frequently asked questions

Does Google penalize AI-written content?

According to Google, the key criterion is quality and helpfulness, not how content is made. Mass-producing low-value content to manipulate rankings, however, violates spam policies.

Can AI content be published without expert review?

It is not recommended. AI models can state wrong facts confidently. Expert review is essential, especially in finance, insurance, law and health.

Should readers be told AI was used?

It is an editorial policy choice. Transparency can increase trust; what matters most is accuracy and a real author taking responsibility.

What is the most common problem in Azerbaijani AI text?

Sentences that read like literal translation, calques, inconsistent terms and overly long sentences. An editor should fix them.

How detailed should an article brief be?

At minimum: target keyword and intent, audience, competitor URLs, H2/H3 structure, sources and CTA. The more precise the brief, the less editing time.

How do I measure AI content results?

Track impressions and CTR in Search Console, engagement and key events in GA4 and article-driven leads in the CRM. Evaluate over several months.

10

Conclusion

AI speeds up content production, but responsibility for quality stays with people. A strong brief, staged drafting, expert review, transparent E-E-A-T signals and post-publication measurement together deliver reliable results.

Do not skip quality stages to gain speed. Instead, spend the time AI saves on checking facts and adding real experience.
